Guardians of the Wet Tropics – dedicated to protecting life on the edge

Guardians of the Wet Tropics honours Rainforest and Saltwater Aboriginal people, the Traditional Owners, as the first “Guardians” of the rainforest.
The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area is listed as second most irreplaceable ecosystems on the planet.
Here in the tropical rainforests flora and fauna are unique, and we are home to the world’s first songbirds.
Today however, life is on the edge.
As Guardians our aim is to increase the number of local landholders adjoining World Heritage areas, critical habitat areas, fragmented pockets of land,
corridors, or water courses to enhance and protect their “patch” in their backyard and together enhance the life living on the edge.
